This position is located in our Remarkable Hospice Southwest Houston location.
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The primary function is to assume overall responsibility and authority for administrative and leadership functions, supervision of the organizational plan, and responsibility for ongoing communication with the Board of Directors and IDT as well as Agency Staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Organize and direct Agency's ongoing functions, including operational and organizational planning, budgeting, and monitoring progress toward operational and strategic goals. Ensure interdisciplinary care is provided and ethical business and clinical practice are maintained.
- Direct staff in performance of duties including admission, discharge, transfer, revocation, and provision of services to patients. Ensure documentation of services provided is accurate and timely.
- Employ qualified personnel and ensure adequate staff education and evaluation, including orientation, in service, continuing education, and competency testing and performance improvement. Ensure maintenance of personnel records. Insure appropriate staff supervision during all service hours and ensure support services are available to staff.
- Ensure Agency operates in compliance with federal and state law. Take action on reports from regulatory or inspection agencies.
- Responsible for supervision and evaluation of family satisfaction surveys. Manage conflict and complain resolution.
- Implement and monitor effective budgeting and accounting systems that promote the health and safety of the agency’s patients and monitor business operations to ensure financial stability. Ensure adequate space, equipment, and supplies are available.
- Ensure completion and maintenance of required reports to the governing body. Maintain an ongoing liaison with the governing body.
- Participate in quality improvement activities including appropriate policies are developed and implemented to accomplish identifies outcomes. Evaluate services and staff against measured outcomes. Ensure actionable objectives are derived from the evaluation of these services and personnel.
- Evaluate program, services, and personnel. Direct preparation of annual report of operations and annual agency evaluation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Be a licensed physician, RN, licensed social worker, licensed therapist, or licensed nursing home administrator with at least one year of management or supervisor experience in a health-related setting, and an additional year of experience in a health related setting, such as stated under Experience; or have at least a high school diploma or a general equivalency degree (GED) with at least two years of management or supervisory experience in a health related setting, such as a home and community support services agency, hospital, nursing facility, hospice, outpatient rehabilitation center, psychiatric facility, intermediate care facility for persons with mental retardation or related conditions, or a licensed health care delivery setting providing services for individuals with functional disabilities.
Skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all segments of the staff, the lay and professional public, The Board of Directors, and the Medical Director. Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English. Maintain twelve (12) clock hours annually of education pertaining to job responsibilities. Comply with training in Administration of Agencies; TAC 97.259 and/or TAC 97.260.
ENVIROMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITION:
Works in an office environment, promoting efficient functioning and coordination of agency activities to insure the highest level of professional patient care. Ability to work a flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT:
- Prolonged sitting is required. Requires ability to always handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner. Requiring working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and agency needs.
