Job Summary:

The Area Director of Operations will focus on implementing effective strategies, managing resources, and executing operational tactics to facilitate the performance and growth of the organization. They will serve as the lead resource for all compliance and regulatory items. Additionally, they have the responsibility for managing financials and budgetary items across the region.

 

Essential Functions:   

  • Provide oversite, strategic guidance, and operational support to managers and administrative staff
  • Maintain regular communication with staff while visiting locations within the region on a regular basis
  • Review trends and performance objectives with each location site on a regular basis including the monthly operating report (MOR)
  • Develop, review, and implement recommended operational processes, procedures, and other company initiatives in collaboration with the Regional Vice President (RVP) and/or Market President
  • Advise and train practice managers on operational policies and procedures; ensure organization is meeting and exceeding compliance guidelines
  • Manage and approve labor hours and ensure proper staffing at the practice level
  • Grow revenues, manage variable costs, and ensure fiscal year budget is achieved
  • Collaborate with eco-system to help resolve operational issues
  • Ensures participation in performance improvement activities
  • Ensures effective and ongoing, on-the-job training of agency administrators/executive directors
  • Provides coaching and counseling and makes appropriate developmental and salary adjustment recommendations
  • Prepares reports to inform leadership on updates regarding project status, issues, achievements etc.
  • Ensures and coordinates communications and information flows between corporate support, operations within the area/region and the business stakeholders and partners
  • Supports operations, business development and clinical operations
  • Manages special projects within the area/region
  • Monitors compliance with state and federal regulations, in collaboration with their direct management, Compliance and Human Resources departments
  • Budget preparation and implementation

  • Ability to travel 25% withing the area

 

Information Management:

Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.      

 

Risk Management:

  • Serve as a primary liaison to the Chief Clinical and Compliance Officer in addressing any compliance and/or clinical issues that may put the organization at risk
  • Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in health care law.
  • Maintains Agency/program compliance with local, state, and federal laws as well as state accreditation standards.

 

Minimum Position Qualifications:  

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing or related field
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in Financial Management. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in home health or hospice care management, with demonstrated leadership and managerial skills.
  • License / Certification:  Current driver’s license and proof of auto liability 

 

Environmental Conditions:

Works under a variety of conditions in facilities and offices; ability to work flexible schedule, ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.  Moderate noise level; tasks may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens; moderate stress and emotional demands.

  

Physical Requirements: 

Sitting is required. Requires ability to always handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and agency needs. Ability to travel.
